I recently took my 8 yr old grandson to CHEO in Ottawa and would like to comment on the process they have in place. We stood in line to be triaged for one and a half hours. I am grateful that I did not have a child in my arms. I work at the QCH in Ottawa and the process is that the patient arrives, their name and health card and reason for being there are taken by a Reception Clerk, then they are told to sit in the waiting room to be triaged. It may take awhile to be triaged but at least they don’t have to stand to wait and with electronic charting, they know right away if someone needs more urgent attention. I believe CHEO’s Arrival Process needs to be reviewed.
