On Feb 15, 2022, my 11 yr old daughter was brought by ambulance into Stevenson Memorial Hospital Emerg dept around 1:00-1:30 am, fighting “a stomach bug” following a fainting episode at home. During the ride to the hospital, I was asked 3 X by the ambulance personnel if my daughter was COVID – 19 vaccinated. I tried to explain to her that she was positive COVID-19 in January 2022, and she could not receive the vaccine; however, I felt that I was ignored, and my explanations did not matter. We arrived at the hospital entrance, and a wheelchair was brought for my daughter to use due to being unable to stand and being SOB. The ambulance personnel asked my daughter and me to wait between the two doors until she speaks with the receiving nurse because my daughter’s symptoms are Covid symptoms and she is not vaccinated ??????? even though I did mention to her again that she was positive already in January. The ambulance personnel returned to us and asked us to go and “register ourselves “thru the front entrance, when I asked, “why we have to do that as she already attended to us, and I had answered all her questions.” She turned to me and said sorry. I was distraught at that moment and felt we were treated differently because my daughter was not vaccinated. I did not say anything as I was afraid that my daughter wouldn’t receive the proper care if I say something. During the screening we answered all questions all over again I did mentioned to the nurse that I am suspecting my daughter is dehydrated that’s the reason why she fainted the nurse turned to me and with a louder rude voice and said that she cannot be dehydrated because her symptoms just started about 6-8 hrs ago usually someone is dehydrated after 24 hrs the symptoms starts, with that being said we were placed in the waiting room for another 45-50 minutes until someone called us inside. My daughter was still experience SOB she was forced to wear a mask during the visit and her Pulse was very high . Once inside of course the DR run some blood tests and the order IV for her mentioning that she has a bad tachycardia and she is dehydrated . I am thankful that my daughter is doing well right now , however the billing department did not delay in sending me the bill to pay for the ambulance even though we were treated unfair and we checked in as any other person which show at the emergency department. I am in the medical field myself and this is not how we treat the public and harass them because of the vaccination status. As per CNO standards no nurse has the right to treat any patients like that.
