TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE at the LITHOTRIPSY Department of ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL, Montreal!

My Hospital Card number is 1171390.
I was scheduled for “Shock Wave Lithotripsy” of my Kidney Stone, Yesterday, 10th of July 2014.
As requested, I was there at 8.30 am with an Adult to take me back after surgery.

-First, they made me wait until 12pm: they passed other Patients who came after me; then they lost my Chart… I had to ask the reception desk twice: “Am I forgotten?”. Then we were all looking for the “Technician Lady”: me in my blue hospital gown, in the corridors looking for the Technician…
I brought ALL DETAILED RECENT REPORTS a Patient can bring related to my Kidney’s recent situation:
-Ultrasound Report from mid-June 2014,
– CT Scan Report (CT Scan done in Royal Victoria a few months ago),
-Recent Complete Blood Test,
-Chart Showing recent years Uric Acid levels prepared by McGill Un. Lab.,

Neither Dr. Kane (Lithotripsy Unit, Royal Victoria Hospital) nor the Nurse, PAID ANY ATTENTION AND HAD A LOOK TO THESE IMPORTANT REPORTS!

When finally I was accepted to the Lithotripsy Room, the Lady Technician asked me if I HAD THE CD OF MY ULTRASOUND ( I can not understand: the full REPORT of the Ultrasound is in front of her AND SHE IS ASKING ME A CD FROM ME, the Patient?!
Before starting the Procedure, the Technician said: “it is diffucult to see your stone”: THERE I WAS IN PANIC AND SENSED THAT EVERYTHING WILL GO WRONG: HOW WILL SHE ACCURATELY BREAK MY STONE if she can not see it !!!??? HOW COME ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL does not have any “X-Ray” or other Equipment to LOCATE ACCURATELY MY KIDNEY STONE???
The Procedure started: while my Kidney was receiving 3000 Shock Waves, I could see the Contol Room behind the glass partition: there were only the Technician and the Anesthesist, The Tehnician often disappearing (doesn’t she be all along the Procedure IN FRONT OF THE MONITOR: IT IS MY KIDNEY SHE IS WORKING ON! When she was not absent, she was “coffee CHATTING” with other employee friends…)
To the HOSPITAL DIRECTOR: are you considering us as HUMAN BEINGS or GUINEA PIGS? WHICH ONE??
Another point: your Equipment is OLD MODEL ( I am Member of Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec):
“In the older devices, the patient used to recline in a water bath while the shock waves were transmitted. Today, the machines are more compact and have a soft cushion on which the patient lies.” You still have the primitif “water bath”.

During the hours that the Procedure last, I saw Dr. Kane only twice in the control room behind the glass partition, 1/2 minute each!

I could leave the Hospital at 3pm: 8.30am – 3 pm ! how many hours? 6,5 hours! In the documentation given to the Patient it says 3 hours!

The most TRAGIC came at the end when they gave me the “Operation Report”: result:
“POSSIBLE FRAGMENTATION” signed by Dr. Serge Carrier ( ???). Why not Dr. Kane who received me and supervised the procedure for 2 times, 1/2 minute each? I didn’t even see Dr. Serge Carrier!
IT IS OBVIOUS THAT they could’t target my stone accurately and THEREFORE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL IN BREAKING IT! THEY DIDN’T CARE TO LOCATE AND TARGET MY STONE ACCURATELY !
NOW, I STILL HAVE THE SAME PAIN I HAD WHEN I CAME for the procedure, SINCE IT WAS THE 2ND TIME I HAD THIS PROCEDURE, I don’t think they CAN REPEAT THE PROCEDURE : IT WILL DAMAGE MY KIDNEY!

WHAT KIND OF HOSPITAL IS THIS? WHAT KIND OF DEPARTMENT IS THIS? WHAT KIND OF WORKING ETHICS OF THE PERSONNEL IS THIS: considering Human Patients as Guinea Pigs? Not bothering to LOCATE ACCURATELY PATIENT’s KIDNEY STONE AND ASKING HIM… if he has a CD??? Just doing the procedure as a “routine job”… NOT TO SAVE OR CURE THE PATIENT!!!
