Nurses can not distiguish between minor side effect and serious side effect of the medication and they do not care
My son was admitted in William Osler Hospital and he was given a medication that caused him to have a seizure as a side effect. Likely, I was present when the nurse wanted to give him the same med again, so I reported to the nurse that my son is having seizurs from this medication and it should be stopped because it is a serious side effect. She ignored my comment and said but he still has to take this medication. I told her politely to phone the doctor and asked him what should be done. She called the doctor and he told her to stop the medication right away. I am really disappointed of this hospital, the nurses should be retrained. They are highly well paid for socializing in the nurses station and ignoring the patients’ safety. Where is the CEO and the clients relation?
